Storytelling in Your Marketing: How to Share Your Business Story

Today, I want to talk about the importance of storytelling in your marketing. Your business has a story and it’s my goal to share that story with the world in a way that reflects your true brand.

You can grow your business through brand films that capture your mission, address your target market, and share about your business.

This is exactly how I helped Salon True tell their story that resonated with their audience and made a meaningful impact.

Who is Salon True?

Salon True is Calgary’s first organic concept salon. They bring a clean, luxury beauty experience to women who don’t want to compromise.

They provide women with opportunities to look and feel their best without risking their health by exposure to chemicals.

Rolanda, the founder of Salon True told me, “I love being a hairstylist and the relationships I build with the guests that come in to see me. Hair is a huge part of many people’s identity and it can be a very strong point of insecurity for some. My job allows me to work with each person and help them look and feel their absolute best.”

How storytelling in your marketing came to life: my experience collaborating with Salon True.

I had the amazing opportunity to partner with Salon True to create content that resonates with their target audience, tells their story, and addresses common questions people have.

Rolanda wanted content that she could use as part of her new marketing strategy to help attract new clients and share more about what True Salon is all about. I was able to create content that they can use across their social channels and website to attract more people and grow more awareness around Calgary’s first organic concept salon!

Using storytelling in your marketing strategy is crucial when it comes to creating a strong brand image. One of the most effective ways to convey your business story is through video content. It allows business owners to authentically showcase their brand, personality, and values.

Videos capture the audience's attention by humanizing the business and establishing a personal connection with potential customers, making it an essential tool for driving sales. By incorporating storytelling in your marketing plan, businesses can create engaging and exciting content that customers will remember, share, and return to.

But wait, there’s more!

With every full session, I offer B-roll to my clients. This is unedited content taken directly from the camera.

It is without sound, isn’t coloured, and is just raw footage that I send to the client, then they respond with timestamps of their favourite clips. I take those timestamps and colour and stabilize the footage, and then send it back.

If you're all about storytelling in your marketing, you know that in the world of social media, it's key to have great visuals to keep your followers coming back for more. B-roll footage is a great way to do just that! Especially when it comes to telling your brand story through your social media posts - platforms like Instagram and TikTok need amazing visuals and content to keep viewers entertained, interested and, most importantly, engaged. So, keep in mind that stunning versatile content (like B-roll footage) can help you tell the story of your brand, inspire customers, and keep your social media presence fresh and memorable!

I know that when it comes to storytelling in your marketing, B-roll footage should be considered an essential tool for any business looking to create engaging and eye-catching social media content.

With Salon True, I sent them over 22 minutes of B-roll footage for them to choose from. When I send the B-roll content over, I always let my client know it’s just for their eyes. I want them to see everything we captured so that they can know exactly what they like to select as edit add-ons. It’s also useful in case they want to take out, add, or substitute any clips from their final edit.

This way we avoid too many back-and-forth emails, and the clients are guaranteed to have a final film that is revised exactly how they’d like it.
